Access Ramps for Vehicles
Access ramps for vehicles are designed so as to provide wheelchair or mobility scooter users (and/or their caregivers) quick and easy access to the side or back of a vehicle, almost always a van or any large utility vehicle. They can either come in pairs like track access ramps or roll-up access ramps or platform-like access ramps such as single-fold access ramps. As access ramps for vehicles are mainly used to and from vehicles, they are generally required to be easy to install besides being lightweight as they are to be manually operated.
Access ramps for vehicles are usually made out of anodized aluminum that is strong enough to withstand a considerable amount of weight. The surfaces of access ramps for vehicles are usually lined with rubber or a rubber-like material to ensure that the surface is not slippery as we would not want any accidental slipping while transporting the wheelchair or mobility scooter. As such, access ramps for vehicles are usually equipped with side rails to ensure safe and secure transportation, without any possibility of the wheelchair or mobility scooter slipping off the path or track. Access ramps for vehicles can easily support more than 800 pounds of weight.
Access ramps for vehicles can usually be carried around as since they are mainly used for transportation in and out of vehicles, they must also have a certain degree of portability. One can choose to have access ramps that can be folded or rolled up for storage or transportation purposes. The variety of access ramps for vehicles are wide but the criteria should basically be the same. Access ramps for vehicles should be relatively light but also sturdy enough and if possible, be as compact as possible when stored. Since most portable access ramps more or less adhere to these prerequisites, the deciding factor is almost always the price as well as the type of wheelchair or mobility scooter being used. Prices for access ramps for vehicles vary since they are portable, they may range from a mere USD $100.00 for track access ramps to at least USD $500.00 for a super compact, ultra durable and sturdy roll-up access ramp.
Up until recent times, it has been very difficult for wheelchair or mobility scooter users or even people who have limited mobility to gain access to transport but access ramps for vehicles have ensured that this tedious undertaking has become an encumbrance of the past. Access ramps for vehicles have given this group of people a certain degree of freedom of movement and to a certain extent, ensure that they do not necessarily have to depend on other people to get around. Thus, there is no need for them to avoid going places just because it has been difficult to manage in the past. The advent of access ramps for vehicles have come to change the lives of many people for the better and it is difficult to imagine how one can manage without them.
Access ramps for vehicles are indeed wonderful inventions that have made the once impossible (or improbable) now possible and with improving technology, what once was impossible is now conveniently and commonly possible.
