Modular Access Ramps
Modular access ramps do not just refer to a specific type of access ramp. Modular access ramps are actually a system of access ramps of a semi-permanent construction that are designed to be assembled from various custom parts. The modular access ramp system is a series of modular access ramp parts or modules that connect together to be attached to platforms at a variety of angles. Some modular access ramps have telescoping abilities for either extension or shortening purposes. Modular access ramps are highly adaptable and can seamlessly blend in by effortlessly joining doorway thresholds and steps. Modular access ramps are also designed for easy installation and removal as they are structurally free standing therefore no planning or building regulations are required for installing them. Structural engineer reports may even be requested if needs be.
Modular access ramps are usually made out of metal, more typically aluminum and in some cases wood for aesthetic purposes. Although some modular access ramp systems are made out of a mixture of wood and steel. Compared to permanent access ramps, modular access ramps are incredibly convenient as there is no need to consult or hire a contractor or carpenter to install it at the home or building. Therefore, installation does not take long and in some cases can even be done on one’s own with the aid of an installation manual as it does not take any special skills or qualifications to install.
However, for convenience purposes, some modular access ramp vendors offer installation services as well. Modular access ramps’ surfaces are usually lined with a form of anti-slip material to prevent any accidental slippage. Because modular access ramps consist of separate parts or modules, any damage to the modular access ramp system can easily be addressed and fixed as a little dismantling and the damaged module can then be easily repaired.
Modular access ramps’ modules are designed to be locked together for safety once assembled. The beauty of modular access ramps is that one modular access ramp system can be purchased but there are a variety of access ramp system configurations or combinations that can be achieved depending on what the design allows. Modular access ramp systems are usually equipped with handrails as well and thus are truly an independent system that is self-serving.
Modular access ramp systems do not come cheap. The cost of a relatively small, approximately 4 feet, modular access ramp could cost at least USD $400.00. Usually an access ramp of 4 feet is not enough so be prepared to spend at least USD $1,000.00. Modular access ramps can hold considerable weight so capacity is not a concern.
Modular access ramps offer the best of both worlds. The stability, security and comfort of permanent access ramps at the convenience of semi-permanent access ramps, allowing for individual customization at any time as well as easy removal should the need arise. Home renovations or improvements need not be too burdensome with modular access ramps as relocation of the modular access ramp system is a simple and easy task. Modular access ramps can even be stored away until they are required again.
