Temporary Access Ramps

Temporary access ramps are access ramps for any wheeled devices, be it wheelchairs, powerchairs or mobility scooters that are used only for a short period of time and stored away once they have served their purpose at that given time.  Since temporary access ramps are effectively temporary in nature, they are usually constructed of lightweight material such as anodized aluminum, much like portable access ramps.  Although, some temporary access ramps can also be made out of industrial strength reinforced rubber.  Since both these materials do not easily get rusty, they are perfect for storage.  However, it is also important that these materials do not warp or break easily as they will only be used at specific periods of time as well as for specific lengths of time.

Because of the nature and interim function of temporary access ramps, some people may even opt to rent temporary access ramps should they only need it for a one-time event or function as the costs of renting a temporary access ramp may be cheaper and would make more sense should they not use these access ramps on a regular basis.  Renting temporary access ramps is also highly beneficial to some as one need not worry about storage after no longer needing the ramp.  Renting may also be the best option in some cases especially if it means that we may be able to rent a more high tech access ramp that could possibly be prohibitively expensive to purchase in the first place.  Calculating the costs for whether one should purchase a temporary access ramp or rent it should be relatively simple particularly when taking into consideration how often we are going to use it.

Temporary access ramps are designed so that they may be transported from one location to another with relative ease and speed.  In fact, most temporary access ramps are portable.  Some temporary access ramps serve as threshold access ramps that can easily be put into place over doorways or steps or curbs.  Once its duty has been done, it can then be stored away.  Threshold access ramps that are lightweight are ideal to be used as temporary access ramps as they can easily be stored to be taken out only when needed and they are also easy to install.

Some temporary access ramps can be folded in half or more but usually these are suitcase access ramps which are not only lightweight but are also highly portable once folded.  This allows for easy access, easy storage as well as easy installation.  Similarly, platform like access ramps can also be used as temporary access ramps as they are quite versatile i.e. catering for a wide variety of wheelchair or mobility scooter types.  A more specific type of temporary access ramp would be the roll-up access ramp as these are one of the most portable access ramp type available although their versatility is somewhat limited, their portability is almost without any restrictions.

As such, since there are many different types of temporary access ramps available, one should carefully consider where would these temporary access ramps be located and for what type of wheelchair or mobility scooter will they be providing access to.  With this in mind, one can then ascertain the appropriate temporary access ramp to cater to one’s needs and as such the necessary budget.
